LYRICS: Song For Dad

Never would a day go by
when I won’t say thank You Daddy
you are all I hope to be
thought me how to watch and pray
in you is the seat of wisdom,
pride, hope, integrity

And You taught me how to love
taught me How to pray
taught me how to Live.

You are my Hero (na na na na na na)
You are my Backbone (na na na na na na)
You’re the strength I hold on to (na na na na na na)
And I love you so much (na na na na na na)

Symbol of strength you are
you inspire who I’d be
to make You proud I can, I will
that be my one desire

And you nurtured all my strength
ridding all my flaws
just bring out the best in me

You are my Hero (na na na na na na)
You are my Backbone (na na na na na na)
You’re the strength I hold on to (na na na na na na)
And I love you so much (na na na na na na)

No matter how old I be
I would always be the one you love
the one you would cuddle to sleep
No matter how old You be
You will always be the one I love
the one I look up to in life.

                        You are my Hero (Hero...)
                        You are my Backbone (Backbone...)
You’re the strength I hold on to (Hero...)
And I love you so much

Thank you for loving me
thank you for giving me all you are…

POEM: Song For Dad

Father my source of identity
Cover of protection, Hand of provision
Is he the Song of Hope to lull on the bed of rue
or the voice of courage that says ‘’get up and move on’’ in the tub of wallow
Father, a plough bearing seeds of growth.

                      Symbol of strength you are
                      Eyes for foresight beckoning caution
A Child’s first Hero; winning all evenings
                      The crown headed on Mother

When it’s all cool and dandy
Or in times of perplexity and choke
when the rod of discipline
and inculcation throws me off balance
from the same place is a voice to comfort and guide
Father, how mystical I find the role you play.

You run town when others run from town
Your name reigns through gates and clans
Father, father on whose back I see farther
Who can be Mother without a man

Whether you choose to
Or nature bestows you this grace,
the part of a Father is the role
of a human god
with strength and rigour
on whose back I behold the view from the top
taking  me over every hurdle that once brought you down
and when babe says ‘’how did you get so charming’’?
I’d say: ‘’Daddy made me’’

Song For Dad (Radio Single).

A New Radio Single premières today.

SONG FOR DAD is a song that unravels the depths in the relationship between a child and his/her Dad. It shows the role of a father as a child's source of identity. I've come to realise that by default or not, we turn out to be just like or better than our Dads.

I hope you like it...and while you Listen, take time out to send a message of appreciation to Your dad this Father's Day.

Blessings!

Where I belong

So, i was super excited when Cory Asbury joined the Bethel Music team just recently, i loved him and his heart of worship from iHOP-KC. Cory has this deep relationship with God, and translates his encounter in the finest lyrics to sing.

One of his songs 'where i belong' ministers to me, and alot. He shared his song story with the Bethel team, and recorded an acoustic version at the Bethel Music studio.

Find below.

Blessings!

The song “Where I Belong” was birthed out of a time of spontaneous worship during a worship set at IHOP-KC. During this set, my team and I were singing and studying Psalm 84, a psalm of the sons of Korah centered on their desire for God’s presence.
How beautiful are the places where You live, O Lord of all! My soul wants and even becomes weak from wanting to be in the house of the Lord. My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. -Psalm 84:1-2
This psalm speaks of God’s “dwelling place” or the “courts of the Lord.” As we were singing about wanting to be with Him where He is, the Lord began to speak to my wife, Anna, about finding belonging and acceptance in His presence. As she was struck with this revelation she began to sing the chorus “I’ve finally found where I belong…in Your presence…to be with You”. There was a tangible tenderness in the room as she sang this truth and I noticed many people really being touched by the Lord in this moment. As we continued to sing the chorus, the Lord started speaking to me that just as we enjoy His presence and long for His presence, He enjoys us and takes delight in us. It was this truth that sparked the chorus “I am my Beloved’s and He is mine, so come into Your garden and take delight in me.” I was blown away by the fact that God could delight in me despite my weakness and failure. His love and affection washed over us that evening in a really unique way that I will never forget. We sang those choruses for weeks and weeks before I crafted them into a song. As a worshipper and songwriter, I am deeply thankful for prophetic moments such as this.

#JoyInHope: Truth For Life Devotional

And Sarah said, "God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me."
Genesis 21:6
It was far above the power of nature, and even contrary to its laws, that the aged Sarah should be honored with a son; and even so it is beyond all ordinary rules that I, a poor, helpless, undone sinner, should find grace to carry in my soul the indwelling Spirit of the Lord Jesus. I, who once despaired, as well I might, for my nature was as dry and withered and barren and accursed as a howling wilderness, even I have been made to bring forth fruit unto holiness. Well may my mouth be filled with joyous laughter, because of the singular, surprising grace that I have received from the Lord, for I have found Jesus, the promised seed, and He is mine forever. Today I will sing psalms of triumph to the Lord who has remembered my low estate, for "my heart exults in the LORD; my strength is exalted in the LORD. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation."1
My desire is that all those who hear of my great deliverance from hell and my most blessed visitation from heaven will laugh for joy with me. I want to surprise my family with my abundant peace; I want to delight my friends with my ever-increasing happiness; I want to edify the church with my grateful confessions, and even impress the world with the cheerfulness of my daily conversation.
Bunyan tells us that Mercy laughed in her sleep, and no wonder when she dreamed of Jesus; my joy should not be less than hers while Christ is the theme of my daily thoughts. The Lord Jesus is a deep sea of joy: My soul shall dive in and shall be swallowed up in the delights of His company. Sarah looked on Isaac and laughed without restraint, and all her friends laughed with her. And you, my soul, look on Jesus, and invite heaven and earth to unite in your unspeakable joy.

Amy's story + song: You are faithful, Sovereign God.

Trials are bound to come but like they come, they go. Recently, I've had friends, family, worship leaders go through some really though time. I feel honored they share with me. Quite a number of them though, it was almost looking like a season of trials. I have been faced with some myself, as a matter of fact, i just pulled through a recent trouble (ergo, my previous post), but this story and song i'm about to share carries a message of HOPE. I like to think no testimony is bigger than the other - they all show the Mighty hand of the Sovereign God.

This story got me teary and smiley as i soaked in the spontaneous song the story birthed. GOD IS INDEED FAITHFUL!!!

I hope you find Joy in hope from this story:

My husband Jason and I have been married for 13 1/2 years. We’ve been incredibly blessed to have a marriage full of adventure as we’ve pursued God’s best for us. Along the way, we’ve had challenges (and lots of learning opportunities) and have grown closer at every turn.
Even though we longed and tried to get pregnant, it was just not happening. This turned into a long, almost decade-long, journey for us, pursuing natural means of fertility, physical checkups, and waiting. As we waited, I had a discussion with my chiropractor, who suggested that a severe car accident I had when I was 26 may be a contributing to factor to the difficulties we were having conceiving. So, we prayed about pursuing more intensive fertility treatments, but our insurance would not cover this and the cost felt unreachable. I began to wonder if I’d ever get to experience motherhood through pregnancy, and my heart grieved for my husband, who longed to be a father.
During this process the Lord would remind us of the legacy He had in store for our family. We would stand in church every time there was prayer for those that longed to have kids. Friends would gather with us privately and pray over us and declare God’s faithfulness. Over the years these powerful words and prayers seemed to grow almost painful as they were left unfulfilled.

But amidst this pain, each one was covered in hope and promise, and I tucked these words deep in my heart.
We feel adoption is one of the most beautiful examples of the gospel– giving the orphan a home. So we pursued foster care and private adoption. We learned so much about the need for adoptive parents to bring kids out of tough situations, and I grew more and more excited at the opportunity to welcome a child into our family. In late 2014, we were finalizing our adoption paperwork and had raised over $6500 to pay for the initial steps of private adoption with the help and support of friends and family. We scheduled our final home inspection and interview with the state in January of 2015.
Two weeks after our final interview with the state, I realized I needed to take a pregnancy test. Every sign pointed to the potential of pregnancy, but I couldn’t let my heart go there one more time for the fear of disappointment. I reluctantly went to the store, and when the pregnancy test showed “positive” I stood in shock. I let out a scream that made Jason come running to my side. We sat with that positive pregnancy test on the edge of our bed and wept together with joy. It was unbelievable. The feeling of a promise fulfilled that we’d almost let go of.
At times it felt we had let go and God was the One still holding on. In a moment, everything changed, and it was totally unexpected.

Today, we are in a season of feeling completely empowered to give hope to those in waiting. We are so inspired to encourage the broken hearted that, in a moment, it can all change! I fully believe that choosing thankfulness along the way, celebrating the victories of those around you, and remaining faithful in the midst of it all will plant seeds– and while they may take time to grow, their fruit will come in season. It may not always look exactly the way we plan in our minds, but oh, how sweet that fruit is when it becomes ripe in the right timing!
Each moment of this pregnancy is beautiful and full of joy, and this little girl on the way has prophetic words spoken, journals written, and now songs sung in expectation of her arrival. What a legacy she already has. Though there was pain in the night, joy arrived in the morning. And it is a joy that is far deeper, sweeter and richer than I ever dreamed imaginable! She is, and will always be, an undeniable sign of the faithfulness of God in our lives.
This song is birthed from that place of expectation, but also from a place of seeing promises fulfilled right before me as this child grows every day. His love can move mountains. In my life I’ve seen him do incredible things with the tiny amount of faith I carry. What an amazing and good father we have!
Amy is part of the Bethel Church, Redding worship team and family. Two weeks ago at church, Amy sang out her story in spontaneous worship, sparking a powerful moment of prayer, declaring that our circumstances are overcome by the h o p e & p r o m i s e of everything He is.

Soak...

You are faithful, you never give up - never give up on me
You are able, to finish the work You started in me
You are stable, through every change that this life can bring, You remain
